Expect the Spoken word to open whole new worlds. Tape Aids is a non-profit organisation providing audio library and human narrated book production services for persons with difficulty reading. For the past 60 years, it has been recording and producing recreational and educational ‘Talking Books’ and audio magazines in English as well as the 9 official South African languages with the support of its 500 volunteer narrators and proof-readers at its Studios and Service Centres. Its circulation Library processes over 5000 audiobooks per day which are either sent directly to members online via Google Drive or iCloud or via postal services, throughout Africa. Members can also download audiobooks from its accessible website www.tapeaids.com.
The Education Outreach division provides Special Needs Schools with audio mini-libraries containing educational as well as recreational ‘talking books’ for all ages. Student members of Tape Aids can request their school textbooks or lessons to be converted into accessible audio formats.
To become a member simply visit their website to request a membership form or phone their tollfree number 0800 33 55 22.
